AT&T Will Switch Off Its 2G By 2017

While still a great part of AT&T customers use 2G EDGE connectivity, pretty soon this internet standart is going to disappear. Of course, one of the main reasons for its disappearance is that other, faster networks like 3G and 4G are more practical and get cheaper. Also, using stable 3G you can enjoy easy and smooth internet browsing and video streaming. With 4G things will get even better. Anyway, the news is that by 2017 AT&T is going to switch off its 2G network. Here’s a word from the officials: “The telecom giant said about 12% of its contract wireless customers, or roughly 8.4 million people, were using 2G handsets at the end of June, but it will work “proactively” in coming years to move them to more advanced devices. Like the other major carriers, AT&T’s customers mostly use phones with third-generation technology, and it is aggressively rolling out a nationwide fourth-generation network.”
